How ARMACO used Spray Drying technology to double capacity and halve fuel costs at Sabuni (SDL) Tanzania.
SDL operated a functioning spray drying detergent tower. Due to changing market conditions, SDL needed to
- Enhance capacity
- Reduce fuel costs
For this purpose, SDL commissioned ARMACO to analyze their plant and to recommend sustainable methods to achieve SDL's objectives. After detailed assessment of existing equipment, ARMACO recommended plant enhancements that doubled the capacity of the existing spray dryer.
ARMACO used its knowledge of various balancing technologies and equipment to enhance SDL's spray drying capabilities.
At 30% of the cost of setting up a new plant for the additional capacity, ARMACO supplied, executed, & commissioned the enhanced plant that yielded the following benefits:
- Capacity was doubled
- Fuel consumption reduced 50%
- Quality was improved: The plant automation allowed better controls on product quality
- Yield was enhanced: Loss of powder [explain - is this detergent?] were reduced by introduction of customized dust handling / recycling systems
